My Vilnius is a series of interviews introducing the people who call the city home. It explores the ordinary lives of extraordinary individuals and the extraordinary within the everyday.
Eglė Mascarenhas needs little introduction in Vilnius’ hospitality scene. She has hosted refined dining experiences, connected countless food lovers, and built the two-fold concept behind Another Bite, a creative agency and a members-only food club.
VP: Can you share the story of how Another Bite was born?
Egle: Another Bite was born very organically. It wasn’t a big business plan or some five-year strategy. It started with a pure love of food and the restaurant and bar scene.
I’ve always loved eating out, discovering new places, and sitting at the bar watching chefs work. Food was at the centre of everything: friendships, trips, conversations, and inspiration. I realised that the moments I felt most alive were around a table or inside a buzzing kitchen.
I was constantly travelling, tasting, and sharing what inspired me. Along the way, I discovered that connecting people came naturally to me. I built genuine relationships with chefs in Lithuania and abroad, and those relationships slowly turned into collaborations.
At some point, sharing recommendations was no longer enough. I wanted to create experiences myself. So Another Bite began as a series of curated food events. We brought chefs together, created pop-ups, and hosted dinners that felt more like gatherings than formal restaurant meals.
From there, it evolved into an agency, a food club, brand collaborations, and handpicked city guides. But at its core, it’s still the same thing: love for food, love for people, and the desire to bring them together.
VP: What’s the concept behind it?
Egle: Today, Another Bite moves in two directions: the agency and the food club. The agency is where creativity meets experience. We work across the hospitality world — from private chefs and intimate dinners to high-end corporate events and specialized content creation.
As for the food club, it is our members-only circle for curious eaters. About 100 members have access to monthly dinners with guest chefs from Lithuania and abroad, plus more, including special perks at select restaurants, wine bars, and shops. It’s an insider pass to our best bites — and a growing community of people who truly love food.
VP: How does Vilnius distinguish itself among other destinations when it comes to food?
Egle: Vilnius is still a little underrated internationally, and that’s actually its strength. The city is small enough that chefs know each other, collaborate, and experiment freely.
Young chefs open places without heavy hierarchy or rigid traditions. You can have a Michelin-level tasting menu, then walk five minutes to a super-casual wine bar with amazing snacks.
What makes Vilnius special is that it’s evolving rapidly. The new generation of chefs travel, stage abroad, and return with fresh ideas while still respecting local ingredients and seasonality.
VP: What has led you towards a food exploration career-wise?
Egle: I think I always had it in me. I just didn’t realise it could be a career. I didn’t grow up thinking, “I’ll work in food.” It was more so that every cherished memory seemed to circle a table — food, drinks, people gathered around. Travelling and discovering new flavours abroad shifted something in me.
It wasn’t one dramatic moment. It was a slow realisation that I felt most alive when I was talking about food, cooking, hosting, or discovering something new. Once I leaned into it, doors kept opening.
VP: What are your 5 top recommendations in Vinius for a first-time visitor?
